Vice President of Sales & Marketing, North America, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts

Drawing upon his nearly twenty years in the travel industry, John Long worked with Iberostar Group to transform a two-location hotel division into a multi-property, standard-setting travel icon. During John’s tenure, Iberostar has grown to fifteen resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico, with sales exceeding one hundred million in the US and Canada alone. The success of the Iberostar brand in North America is thanks in large part to the marketing vision and relationship-building talents of John Long.

 

John took the Iberostar brand to the core of the travel industry and established solid, invaluable relationships with travel agents. He personally cemented the bonds within the trade that would become the foundation for Iberostar’s success.

 

Plus, his key insights into consumer behavior helped model the Iberostar experience. The properties impressed the trade and consumers alike with unexpected room amenities and resort experiences that have since been copied throughout the world.

 

More recently, John helped launch the adults-only, all-inclusive Iberostar Grand Collection. The first destination, Grand Hotel Paraiso, was introduced to the public with Iberostar’s first consumer-driven marketing campaign. John’s strategy was to compliment trade efforts with the company’s first North American consumer advertising. The result? The ever-occupied Grand Hotel has been heralded as the Caribbean’s new hallmark for luxurious vacation splendor. John has since helped guide the expansion of the Grand Collection to Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.

 

John continues to work with Iberostar Hotels & Resorts to evolve the Iberostar brand with new destinations and concepts that will no doubt continue to shape the travel industry.

 

John Long first studied travelers’ needs and wants as a hotel concierge in Cancun. After a successful career in travel sales, he joined Iberostar in 1997. In 2001, John was promoted to Vice President of Sales & Marketing, North America. Fluent in multiple languages, John currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Jonna and their three children.
